DON’T LET YOUR BUILDERS CHOOSE
YOUR GARAGE DOOR FOR YOU
Most of the times, when a contractor/builder will ask you what
type of garage door do you want to install in your home? And most of the time the
answer is "Whatever," going along with their builders' or I don’t
mind anything? No please don’t say you don’t mind any door, because you are the
one will have to settle with this door for a life. So take your
time and shop around for a garage door, talk to people, get some advice on
which garage door is the best and suits you best. New-home buyers spend weeks
or months choosing cabinet styles, faucet handles, lighting fixtures and floor
tiles. You will also get know that there are so many choices, so little time.
However, when it comes to garage doors, most buyers just say, recommendations.
Things to consider when installing a new door are
·
. Insulation. Doors can be insulated or non-insulated. If the garage is attached
to the house you'll want an insulated door. This will help reduce utility bills
- a popular selling point with prospective buyers. If you live in a mild
climate or have a detached garage that will only be used to park the car, you
can opt for a less expensive, non-insulated door.
Maintenance is another consideration. Steel doors are very durable and virtually maintenance-free, but some people prefer the warmth and character of wood and the limitless design options. Depending on the climate and exposure, wood doors will need to be painted or stained every few years
